I got the last name of Franklin from the letters of Helen Louise Elizabeth (Bower) Van Valkinburgh to her son Leslie Dewy, and from her daughter Laura. The return address on some from 1927 envelopes lists her as Mrs. L. E. Franklin, Route 3, box 278, Everett, Washington. I do not know if The L. E. is Mr. Franklin's initials or perhaps Louise Elizabeth.
