Additional Information
Sterling Price Hendricks:
Buried: 21 JAN 1952, Oak Lawn Cemetary, Sulphur, Oklahoma
Occupation: Teacher
History: @N558@
Notes:
Another child, sex unknown, was born circa 1889, between Harry and Tiny, but died before 1900, also in Lamar, Texas.
Taught at East Central College in Ada, Oklahoma (1910?).
Moved from Lamar County, Texas to Hugo, Indian Territory. John Biard (and maybe other siblings) attended Hugo Public School.
S.P. was named after General Sterling Price, a Civil War general, apparently admired by his father, Shadrach, who served in the Confederate Army.
S.P. must have had quite a temper. Becky tells that he was once brushing his hair in front of a mirror, when one of his sons, Harry, got up out of bed. Harry sat back down on the edge of the bed to put his shoes on. It seems that sitting on the edge was bad for the bed frame (or something), so S.P. told him to get off. Harry answered "as soon as I get my shoes on." WRONG ANSWER! S.P. threw the brush at Harry, hitting him and taking a piece off his ear!
S.P. and Amanda Caroline married by James M. Biard, Minister of the Gospel.
Sarah Amanda Caroline (Callie) Biard:
Buried: 03 FEB 1941, Oak Lawn Cemetary, Sulphur, OK
Notes:
Grandkids called her "Muvvy".
(02) Dick (Richard?) Hendricks:
Notes:
Died as a child.
(05) Lillie Hendricks:
Notes:
Beck says she died at around 10 years of age. Apparently, Lillie and her sister Tiny were doing dishes, Tiny washing and Lillie drying. Tiny complained to their mother (whom Beck and her siblings called Muvvy) that Lillie wasn't drying fast enough. Their mother told Lillie to dry faster, but Lillie answered "Mama, my head hurts so bad!" And she collapsed and died.
(07) Paul Kruger Hendricks:
Notes:
Named after Paulus Kruger (Africa).
